This video covers how to handle a dog while training. You should be aware of the training tools you will need: training treats, a standard 6 feet leash, a flat collar and a 20 foot lead. Always keep your dog on leash while training. Avoid places that have too many distractions. Bring the dog to you. Never go towards the dog. Make sure you put the leash under your foot to ensure your dog cannot move much and put the excess lead on your right hand. Give the command only once. Make up your own corrections if your dog doesn’t listen to you. When the dog first responds to your command, reward him. You should use 3 different voice tones for training: a tone for giving commands, a tone for correcting and a tone for rewarding. Your tone of voice should be loud, clear and firm while giving commands. Never reward for negative behaviour or lose control of the situation.
